HBA Building Visions is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and proudly serves as the charitable foundation of the Home Builders Association of Billings.
Established in 2022 by the Association’s Executive Officer and Executive Board of Directors, HBA Building Visions was created to strengthen and expand construction trades education, training, and career pathway opportunities throughout Yellowstone County.
Our mission is simple yet powerful: to build the future of the construction workforce.
Through scholarships, career start-up financial assistance, trades education, hands-on training, and career placement support—delivered through our Tools for Trades program—we help students and emerging professionals gain access to meaningful, long-term careers.

Hands-On Construction Experience Led by Industry Professionals
More than 200 students annually are directly involved in the student home build, gaining exposure to every phase of residential construction. From framing and electrical to plumbing, finishing, and project coordination, students learn side-by-side with experienced Home Builders Association members and Career Center instructors.
The Home Builders Association of Billings fully funds 100% of the project each year, ensuring students have access to quality materials, professional mentorship, and a safe, structured learning environment. This industry-led approach allows students to explore trade careers while building practical skills that translate directly into the workforce.
Investing in the Future of the Trades Workforce
To further strengthen career pathways in the trades, the HBA of Billings recently launched its charitable arm, HBA Building Visions. The mission of HBA Building Visions is to grow and sustain Montana’s skilled trades workforce through:
- Scholarships for continuing education
- Career start-up financial assistance
- Trades education and hands-on training
- Career placement through the Tools for Trades program
By investing in students and early-career tradespeople, HBA Building Visions helps ensure a strong local workforce—supporting not only successful career outcomes, but also long-term housing affordability and access to homeownership in Billings and the surrounding region.
Scholarships & Career Start-Up Support for Graduates
Students who complete the Student Build Home Project are eligible to apply for scholarships toward post-secondary education or receive financial assistance to offset the cost of essential start-up tools when entering the trades directly. This support helps remove barriers to entry and gives graduates a strong foundation as they begin their careers in construction.
