Home Builders Association Member EEC Eggart Engineering & Construction to Donate Labor

Billings, MT (May 4, 2016) ZooMontana has long desired a permanent structure to hold their numerous outdoor events. Thanks to the Home Builders Association of Billings (HBA) and member EEC Eggart Engineering & Construction, that dream will now become a reality through the construction of a new 5000 square foot event pavilion within the Zoo’s main plaza. EEC as volunteered to donate 100% of the project’s labor cost, valued at over $50,000, while Action Electric has offered the same labor free deal for the required electrical work. MT Piering and Concrete Lifting, DT Services and Bobcat of Big Sky have donated excavating services.

“The generosity of these companies along with the incredible forethought of the HBA is truly amazing” said Zoo Director Jeff Ewelt. “We continue to be blown away by those wanting to help move ZooMontana forward and we are so lucky to be located in a city truly dedicated to giving back”, added Ewelt. EEC owner Quentin Eggart agrees. “We love to involve ourselves with the community. All of us at EEC feel that ZooMontana is an incredible community asset worth investing our time into”, Eggart said. If all goes according to plan, the new ZooPavilion will be ready to receive its first guests by early summer.

The Zoo estimates that more than 20,000 people will use the pavilion just this year through wedding receptions, company picnics and other private events. For rental prices or more information on the new ZooPavilion, contact Event’s Director Lea Ann Yucha at 406-652-8100 ext. 213 or at lyucha@zoomontana.org All media personnel are invited to a ground breaking event at the Zoo on Wednesday, May 11th at 11am sharp.

Another HBA Community Project

If you've ever attended an event at ZooMontana under the huge tent, then you know the tent has seen better days.

That being said, it has been a long-time hope of Jeff Ewalt, ZooMontana's Executive Director, to replace the tent with a permanent structure that will accommodate all group sizes and withstand the nature of Montana's unpredictable weather conditions.

After hearing of the Zoo's wish, the HBA stepped up to see what could be done to help accommodate their need. The HBA coordinated a couple of informal feasibility meetings, visited with city planning officials and reached out to members for assistance.

We would like to thank HBA member, EEC Eggart Engineering & Construction for volunteering to donate 100% of the labor, valued in the tens of thousands of dollars, required to plan and construct the over 100 x 40 foot pavilion! EEC has begun the process of applying for all the necessary permits with the City of Billings (yes the Zoo is in City limits) and hopes to break ground within the next few weeks.

It is the hope of everyone involved to have the pavilion ready to receive its first guests by early Summer 2016 - in time for HBA's Member Appreciation Event July 19th!
